Parents

You ever go through a time when your parents are in distress over something like the bills and they're all crazy about it? They're yelling and screaming and blaming each other and you just want to them shut up? Then there's you, sitting in the corner with a simple solution to all their problems in your head but because they think you're too young/stupid to understand what they're going through, they don't give you a chance to speak and just ignore you? Then many frustrating hours/days later they miraculously come up with an idea that was exactly like your solution but they will never know that because they never gave you the chance?
It happens to me all the time. It doesn't even work when I start screaming my ideas at them. They think I'm too naive to know anything and when they do listen, they always have some way to make my solutions useless. Then when they actually come up with the same solution themselves much later on, they don't even acknowledge that I told them in the first place.
This has actually made me very bitter about my parents and even my brother, who thinks that just because he's older and has a job, he knows more than me. I don't even want to waste my breath anymore trying to correct them. If they want me to learn from my mistakes, then they can learn from their own.

I've had some encounters like that with my parents. my parents are planning to get a divorce over really trivial matters. One thing is if there are problems within your household regarding to parents, let your voice be heard before it is too late. My voice seems to be too weak to be heard by my father. Fathers can be very stubborn, such as my own. I've been having the hardest time every communicating with my dad since elementary school. I did sports, excelled in school to make my dad proud of me. But that only went so well till i got into high school. That's when everything started to crumble and i totally lost communication with my father. It's hard to talk to him about important events in my life and the only person i ever turn to is now my older brother. Life can be hard and parents can be like children, but it shouldn't put you down. I've had family problems for as long as i can remember. Everything i remember about my family from the past, i remember great hardships. I remember pain, suffering, and great depression. But i am not complaining about it, from this i have learned that not all people are perfect not even the people i look up to. I have establish my own grounds and support myself from there-on-out. I'm happy for what's been done in the past, because it made me a stronger person today. I still look up to my parents because they are both strong ambitious persons. When they put their mind towards a subject, they don't stop until they achieve their purpose. This is something that i am proud to have as their child. Like we learned in ENG150 class when you have negative thoughts, learn to understand that you are thinking negatively and try to think positively. Meaning try to find a solution for the problem. That's what engineers do and that's how we are known as the problem-solvers.
